In-patient detox can be a critical step on the road to recovery for people with substance use disorder. Through the Detox Treatment Referral Program, Vineyard residents can be given immediate access to detox services off-Island (Gosnold, SSTAR, or AdCare) that do not exist on the Vineyard.

The agreement also provides an option for patients to have a Recovery Coach, who will guide the patient and loved ones through the process, accompany the patient on the boat, and make sure he or she gets to the detox facility. The recovery coach will also be at the facility when the patient checks out. The recovery coach will work with counselors at the center to lay out the next steps for when the patient returns to the Island.
