The Martha’s Vineyard Regional Transit Authority (VTA) provides year-round public transit service to the six towns of Martha’s Vineyard: Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury and West Tisbury. The VTA’s transportation services consist of both fixed services and paratransit services (known as the “Lift”).

VTA fixed route service varies throughout the year, depending on the seasonal travel demand. The VTA’s peak season of operation typically runs from May to October, with fourteen routes that travel Island-wide.

Bus: Year-round public transportation. For schedules and routes, consult the VTA website.

The Lift: The Lift is a program through the Martha’s Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) which provides transportation to Island destinations by prior arrangement for those who qualify. All vans are lift-equipped and the cost varies according to the trip. Call for more information or for application.

Medivan: Have an appointment off island and need a ride? The Cape Area Medivan Service helps you get there! To be eligible you must be 60 years of age or older and/or disabled. Consult the VTA website or call 508-693-9440 x1 for more information or for application.
