The Steamship Authority is the largest ferry service to the Islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket from Cape Cod.  We offer the lowest fares and the most frequent daily departures for passengers, automobiles, groups and trucks. Martha’s Vineyard ferries depart from Woods Hole and Nantucket ferries depart from Hyannis. Year-round auto and passenger ferry from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven. Seasonally from Woods Hole to Oak Bluffs, May to October. Our seasonal high-speed passenger ferry, the M/V Iyanough, gets you to Nantucket, dock-to-dock, in just an hour.

The SSA provides discounted automobile excursion fare for island residents who need to travel to the mainland with their vehicles on a repeated basis for special medical treatments or appointments.

The Steamship Authority makes every possible accommodation for medical emergencies. In these cases, an ambulance or a personal vehicle is boarded on a preferential basis. During business hours, please make arrangements by calling (508) 477-8600.

The SSA offers discounted passenger fares to senior citizens (ages 65 or older) who are residents of Martha’s Vineyard. Stop by the Steamship Authority Terminal in Vineyard Haven or Woods Hole to pick up an application for a Steamship Authority Senior Citizen Travel Card or contact our Group Sales Department at groups@steamshipauthority.com to request an application. Please note that eligibility restrictions do apply.

Customers who need to travel with their vehicles for medical appointments or treatments, because of a disability or to attend a funeral service upon the death of a member of their immediate family may reserve preferred space in advance, provided they have a preferred profile account with the SSA.
